Mission + Goals
The Las Alturas facility will facilitate academic field research in many areas including:
  • Rain forest preservation
  • Sustainable communities in rain forests
  • Anthropological studies
  • Preservation of indigenous peoples' cultures
  • Developing country economies
  • Sustainable, low environmental impact agriculture
  • Sustainable, low carbon energy generation
  • Renewable biological resources
  • Waste reuse, remanufacturing and recycling
We anticipate that the results of this research will be published. To support the research, we intend to offer grants to university researchers by providing transportation, accommodation and a modest stipend to qualified researchers.

In addition to supporting academic research, Zenerji plans to implement approaches developed or suggested by the research to demonstrate and refine the feasibility of new methods of environmentally sensitive human habitation and economic development in developing country rain forests. The goal is to cause the village of Las Alturas (100 residents) to be an economically viable, ecologically sustainable community while preserving the surrounding forest. The methods and technologies demonstrated at Las Alturas may have applicability throughout the developing world.

We anticipate that this project will take many years to accomplish and is likely to evolve in unforeseen (and beneficial) ways through innovative multi-disciplinary academic collaboration. Careful ongoing planning is essential. Our first step will be to create an overall plan for the project. We are now seeking university departments or institutes to work with us to create and implement this plan.
